Join Us At The After Party!

WordCampers are invited to join us at Zillicoah Beer Co. by the beautiful French Broad River after Saturday’s sessions on August 18 from 5:30 until 8:30. In addition to the tasty local brews, there will be non-alcoholic options as well as light appetizers and a taco truck.

Due to limited parking at Zillicoah, we have arranged a shuttle from the nearby Grainger Industrial Supply parking lot. Campers should arrive at the Grainger lot and look for the Zen Tubing shuttle, which will run between Grainger and Zillicoah from 5:30 to 8:30. Many thanks to Zen Tubing, a local Asheville business, for providing the shuttle service.

The parking situation at Zillicoah tends to improve after the early evening rush, so for those wishing to stay at the party past 8:30 it should be feasible to shuttle to your car and then drive the short distance back to Zillicoah.

Grainger & Zillicoah are located about 4 miles north of the conference venue.

In an effort to feature everyone who makes WordCamp Asheville a success we will be sharing interviews with new sponsors on the blog each week. Silver Sponsor Highlight: Create My Voice Innovates with Voice Technology

Who are you?

Hi, I’m Pam, the owner of Create My Voice. My husband, Chip, and I enjoy running Create My Voice so that bloggers can put their content on Alexa and have it read aloud.  Our roles pretty much match our personalities.  Chip, the detail oriented technologist, loves everything to do with computers and technology, while I enjoy interacting with people, researching, and marketing. Chip calls me the big picture person, thus my title is CBPO, Chief Big Picture Officer. He is the CVO, Chief Voice Officer. We tend to balance each other and together we make a pretty good team.

What is the mission of your company?

We really believe smart speakers are going to change how everyone interacts with content. A study done by NPR and Edison Research interviewed smart speaker owners and said 71% of them listen to more audio than they did before, 30% of them said they are replacing time spent with other electronic devices with their smart speakers, and 92% said that they listen along with others in their household.  With Alexa already in homes, cars, hotel rooms, laptops, and phones, having content available on a smart speaker is becoming essential. Create My Voice creates personalized Alexa skills for bloggers so they can join the smart speaker community.
